About Me

Background

I am an Engineer at Innovation First International working in the Hexbug Division. I graduated Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology with a BS in Mechanical Engineering and a minor in Robotics. I get to design some of the coolest STEM toys on the market during working hours, and spend my free time designing and building combat robots, as well as mentoring FRC team 148, the Robowranglers.

My robotics journey started when I joined FRC team 2022 Titan Robotics in 8th grade. The next year I helped found FTC team 7301 Tiger Robotics. My Junior year of high school I moved to FRC team 2451 PWNAGE. The 9 seasons of FIRST robotics that I participated in ignited my design to become an engineer and work on mechatronic systems.

I started building combat robots my freshman year of college. We started work on a 15lb vertical spinner called Spinner Sinner, but unfortunately with my busy college schedule, we were unable to finish the robot. My 2nd year of school I stepped up my game. I captained the design for a beetleweight undercutter, M.A.D. I led 3 freshmen in the design, build, testing, and eventually competition with this robot. We competed at the 20th anniversary Robojackets event at Georgia tech, and M.A.D. ended up placing 2nd out of 16 robots. My final year at RHIT saw me captain of the combat subteam, and the lead on yet another robot design, this time a 4wd vertical spinner named Anomaly. Sadly, COVID cut our year short and cancelled our competitions for both 15lb and 3lb robots.

After graduation, I started to design and build my own combat robots. The only event in the Midwest that was running regularly was a small 300g event at C.H.A.M.P. in Canton, OH. After building my first 2 300g bots, and winning C.H.A.M.P., I started work on my first antweight for an event in Alabama. Shortly after that event I moved to the Dallas area and built my first Beetle, Ablation. Since then I have brought Ablation to a hand full of events, and built three more antweights.
